Thursday Deck Spotlight – El Cigaro's Undead Zoo

Zoo’s Snuggler/Ghoulie Goal is to play Basic 1/3’s to link into 7 EP Legends followed up by more Basic 1/3’s to score 10+ Escape Points per turn. This mathy strategy effectively puts the game on a clock of 8-10(ish) turns. Here's the deck list!

Card highlights include Grimshaman, Bandles, Hexhopper, and Celisticorn. Grimshaman allows you to replay Legends from discard. Bandles reactively slows EP gain on targets that cannot be KO’d. Hexhopper is both disruption and draw three. Lastly, Celisticorn is a board management tool and comeback mechanism at 9+ EP per play. 

Bread and butter combos include Ghoulrex+Grimshaman to play Ghoulrex again. Bandles+Wilyhop to KO any unprotected card. Cryptag+Hexhopper to view the hand, check contents, and if necessary burn hand. Overall, it’s a simple game plan with a few tricks.

Zoo and other Snuggler/Ghoulie variants dominated in the first tournament. Zoo leans into the value 1/3’s in the Snuggler/Ghoulie pool to beat the opponent with escape points and basic disruption over flashy combos. I highly recommend new players try it out. Zoo won’t be going anywhere for some time.
