A Spooky Scales Deck Breakdown by Guardian League #1 Winner - Qsmodshop aka Grandpa Spookynut

Hey there Critterologists, Q here taking over the article this week to talk about the first Escape Land CCG League that went down, where I went 6-1, and walk you through my process and approach on the event as a whole.
After the final wave of changes that hit the Snugglers, I decided to leave behind my first meta-defining strategy, which involved locking down the opponent with Deceptnut and using Bandles with Wilyhop to 100% guarantee the KO of any critter on the field, a new meta had risen out of the waves, which I dubbed Fishpals+, where using Fishpals as the majority base of the deck, can rest your opponent's critters and leave them like that until your next turn, which means you can’t use activated abilities alongside not being able to score with them.
So, I thought, well what if I just kill my own rested critters to combo even harder to punish the Fishpal+ Strategies?
This is where Spooky Scales (I like to name every deck combo; it keeps things fun!) comes into existence. The idea of the deck came from reading Slyscale and wondering, how can I use this to get around the impending new meta?
Slycale’s effect is that as an additional cost, you must KO one of your own critters to summon, and as a 0 AP/ 3 EP critter, that’s really good, especially for pivoting into some of the big hitter legends like Ghoulrex or Necrostag to KO and potentially keep that combo going.
The other big card that inspired this brew was Dracoflap who benefits you KO'ing critters, gaining 2EP for the turn PER KO. This can snowball real hard, especially with Slyscale KO'ing rested critters.
The baseline combo is this;
1AP for Dracoflap
Shellfire for 0AP since there’s a non-dragon in play
0 for Slyscale, KO'ing the Shellfire, Dracoflap gains +2 EP.
Now we have a 4EP Dracoflap and a 3EP Slyscale, which allows linking into any Ghoulie legend in the deck for only 2 AP and there are many other routes you can take from here. Link into Necrostag for the Legend KO, Link into Morbidos bringing back the Shellfire, gaining another AP for an extra body like Luxurion to discard, adding even more flexible plays, or even Sphinxara if you have a way to KO it with another card wiping the board and drawing a bunch of cards.
The deck as a whole functions as a really flexible way to KO your own rested critters so you can clear space and punish your opponent for putting all their resources into 1 or 2 big critters.
I highly recommend giving this deck a try as it serves as a great point to experience how Ghoulies can shine alongside the very underutilized dragon engine (I firmly believe that this is going to be THE engine to use in the game for value and generating AP).
